SIAF PROJECT

Piron is proud to be a partner of the SIAF project, which promotes “Smart Integration of Appliances for high quality and sustainable Food processing”. It is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Regional Operational Programme (ROP) for 2014-2020 – Action 1.1.4, Call for tenders to support Research and Development projects by the Innovative Regional Networks and Industrial
Districts in the Veneto Region.
What does the SIAF project involve?
The aim of the SIAF project is to create a kitchen 4.0, in which all of the main types of food service equipment are connected in a network in order to optimize cooking processes and food preservation, while also enabling recipes to be prepared automatically and efficiently.
A cloud platform plays a crucial role in the SIAF architecture, because it handles all of the key information gathered from the equipment (mainly ovens, vacuum sealers and blast freezers). This information is used to minimize waste and predict failures before they actually occur, thus reducing maintenance and repair times and costs.
Orved and ColdLine are taking part in the project alongside Piron. The University of Padua is coordinating it all and providing expert know-how, with the HIT Centre, DAFNAE and Simnumerica all playing a part. The project is being carried out in association with RIAV – the Veneto Innovative Food Network.
